Moringa information that anyone can write and edit.

Welcome to the Moringa Wiki, a growing collection of articles on everything related to Moringa. Anyone can create or edit any article, so we can all work together to build a store of knowledge.

The Moringa tree (Moringa oleifera) is a slender tree with drooping branches that can grow to 10 m (30 ft) or taller in the wild.

  • Pods are long and slender, three-sided and ribbed
  • Seeds have a dark kernel with 3 cream-colored wings
  • Flowers are cream-colored and sweet-scented

Lifespan

The average lifespan of Moringa oleifera ranges between thirty and forty years.  However, there are at least 85 different accessions (types) of M. oleifera.  One accession will quickly grow, produce fruit and then die in just one year.  The PKM types are said by Indian farmers to be productive during two years, and are then cut back or replaced -- but an Israeli researcher working in Niger says he has PKM1 Moringa still very productive after seven years.
