Mr. Nikolaus Foidl is known worldwide as one of the foremost experts and researchers on agricultural and industrial uses of the Moringa tree (Moringa oleifera). He has ample experience in product development feasibility studies and marketing. From 1989 to 1999 he was the head of the Biomass Project at the National University of Engineering Sciences in Managua, Nicaragua. While there, he was involved with waste water treatment systems, new environmental legislation for Nicaragua, a communal compost production facility, bioenergy and fodder processing, production and industrial uses of Moringa oleifera, development and setting up of the only bio diesel production from Jatropha curcas, setting up of laboratories, planning and construction of biogas units, development of plant growth enhancing substances, and installation of an agricultural service unit for soil preparation and crop management.
Mr. Foidl’s profession career has also included work for the Department of Environmental Research at Research Center Graz (1977-1982); the Institute of International Cooperation in Vienna as an expert concentrating on biogas, biomass utilization and farm management (1982–1986); and Sucher & Holzer construction, planning and trade company, Graz, as an expert concentrating on biogas, biomass utilization and farm management (1987-1989). He also holds several patents on agricultural and industrial processes.
