Welcome to the Moringa Wiki, a growing collection of articles on everything related to Moringa. Anyone can create or edit any article, so we can all work together to build a store of knowledge.

Moringa seeds contain a high-quality oil that can be used for cooking. It is quite acceptable to taste, and does not become rancid.

The oil is also very well-suited for use as a lubricant.

Extracting oil

Here is a simple method for extracting the oil from Moringa seeds:

  1. Brown the seeds in a skillet.
  2. Mash the seeds thoroughly.
  3. Place the seed mash in boiling water.
  4. The oil will rise to the surface, where you can skim it off.

The "seed cake" left over after extracting oil has value as well. It can be used for water purification. It can also be used as a fertilizer, or as a protein supplement in livestock feed.
